Rituals and Celebrations

  1. Creating Govardhan Hill: Using cow dung, mud, and flowers, devotees create a small hillock representing Mount Govardhan. This is often adorned with images of Krishna and cows.
  2. Offering Annakut: An array of food items, including sweets, fruits, and savory dishes, is prepared and presented to the deity. The offerings are later distributed among family members and the community.
  3. Performing Aarti and Bhajans: Devotees gather to sing devotional songs (bhajans) and perform aarti, a ritual of waving lamps before the deity, to seek blessings for health, prosperity, and protection.
  4. Govardhan Parikrama: Pilgrims visit the actual Govardhan Hill in Mathura and perform a parikrama (circumambulation), walking around the hill to pay their respects and seek spiritual merit.
