Diwali Puja (दीवाली पूजा)

The Rituals of Diwali Puja

  1. Sthapana (Establishing the Deities): The Puja begins by placing idols or images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on a clean, decorated platform. The idols are adorned with flowers, vermilion, and turmeric.
  2. Invocation (Aavahan): The worshippers sit facing east or north and perform an invocation to invite the deities into their homes.
  3. Offering (Prasad): Offerings of sweets, fruits, flowers, rice, and coins are made to the deities. These offerings are placed on a plate in front of the idols.
  4. Aarti: Aarti is performed with a lit lamp or diya, accompanied by devotional songs or mantras. This ritual symbolizes the removal of darkness and the spreading of light.
  5. Mantra Chanting: Specific mantras and prayers are recited to honor the deities and seek their blessings.
  6. Distribution of Prasad:After the Puja, the offerings (Prasad) are distributed among family members and guests, symbolizing the sharing of blessings.
